bathe your makeup brushes

February 8, 2008

When I was putting on my makeup yesterday, I could not recall the last time I used my blusher brush. Since I only go to school almost everyday, I typically only apply conceal and fill-in my eye brows. (I try to let my skin breathe as much as I could.)

The crux of the matter is, I cannot use my blusher brush since the brush would have accumulated a fair amount of bacteria since my last use. And sadly, it would be too late for me to wash my brush and for it to dry, for that use per se. Now, I must remind myself to include brushes cleaning as part of my Chinese New Year spring-cleaning ritual.

Well, in fact, this is an underestatement, because you should be cleaning your brushes every two months (especially if you use them regularly). It is very important to keep your brushes clean since you are using them apply makeup onto your face. If the bacteria stays on your skin, it may cause skin irriatations which would create more trouble for you to rectify the problems.

The best thing is, you do not need to buy brush cleaning solution, you could use shampoo. Yes, the shampoo that you are using for your hair. 🙂 It is a simple cleaning procedure too.  Here is a great video from youtube demonstrating how to clean your brushes.

Remember, the Chinese saying of “there are no ugly women in the world, but there definitely are lazy women”.
